Your Guide to Acne Treatment
Many people find it hard to believe that you can suffer with acne at any age and do not have to be a teenager. In fact nearly 90 percent of people suffer from acne sometime in their lifetime and while acne is dreaded, it usually shows up during our teenage years and fortunately, many people outgrow it.
Our bodies produce oil called sebum which is quite normal but sometimes we produce too much and this clogs the hair follicles which can be one of the causes of acne but excess oil is not the only cause nor does it mean that someone who has excess oil in their hair follicles will develop acne. It is this oil which is trapped inside the pores which creates the recognizable pimple but this seems to be a more modern condition amongst the population.
Clogged pores can also be caused by things like makeup, atmospheric pollution and the reason more young people seem to suffer with it, hormone adjustments but at least it is a treatable condition. Even out diet can play a part in the cause of acne as much of our diet today is made up of unhealthy processed food.
For a recurring or severe case of acne, many sufferers turn to a dermatologist for a more aggressive treatment and in most cases, a prescribed routine and medication can help to treat acne. When medication is prescribed, normally the doctor involved will want to see the patient to ensure the acne is clearing according to plan and decide whether to use more extreme methods. The fingernails are the acne sufferer’s biggest problem as bacteria can cause further infection of the already sensitive area so it is important that the acne is not aggravated any further.
Germs and bacteria are not normally seen by the naked eye so just because the fingernails look clean does not actually mean they are. To be on the safe side it is always wiser for an acne victim not to touch any of their pimples with their hands just in case.
Research has shown that if your parents had acne, you’ll probably have it as well and very few people have perfect skin, so it is a very common skin disorder among almost every single person. Although the likelihood is that you will suffer from acne during your years at school and college.
Nevertheless it is still best to contact a skin specialist before you start any type of medication. Please be aware that the information here is provides as a guide only and does not try to replace the professional guidance supplied by a professional about the condition and treatment of acne.
