Exploring ADHD Treatment

There is more than one ADHD treatment available: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD for short has many treatments that can help to control ADHD symptoms which are uncontrollable behavior, inattentive and impulsivity. Finding the right treatment for ADHD has many possibilities, today we are going to attempt to find the right treatment for you.

Many adults and children are treated with medication; there are many different prescription medications that are either stimulant or non-stimulant. Stimulants include Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall and Viviane; these medications are used to increase activity in the brain to help focus and control your movements. These medications can be effective, but there are side effects involved; the biggest one is abuse of the medication because stimulants are classified as a schedule 2 drug, which if not taken correctly can be addictive.

One form of ADHD treatment is by using natural remedies, many people are not comfortable giving their child stimulants, so they turn to natural remedies. The side effects are slim compared to use of stimulants which can have some serious side effects such as headaches, depression, loss of weight, sleeplessness. Using remedies are safe to use, if used wisely.

Yoga and music therapy has been known to help relax the mind; this type of relaxation may improve a child’s hyperactivity and improve their ability to focus more. Doing breathing treatments during yoga may help with their nerves and help them to control their movements, more and more people are turning to alternatives for treatment.

A balanced diet can help with the treatment of ADHD; eliminating sugar can help to lessen the amount of medication needed since sugar makes the child hyper, which is a known symptom of ADHD. Therefore, with a healthy diet and exercise, the amount of medication an adult or child has to take can be lowered to a smaller dosage.

Behavior therapy can be effective in treatment if the adult or child tends to be violent at times. This therapy may be needed to help control behavior problems such as outbursts, physical behavior such as hitting someone, and tantrums. In order to help a child with behavioral problems we will need to continue TLC. A child’s behavior can be hard to understand if they have ADHD; their brain functions differently with ADHD that is why medication is needed to help with their brain function. By providing behavioral therapy for a child or adult, this will help them to cope with whatever type of behavioral problem they are having.
