How You Can Combat Your Depression
People usually get depressed when they are lonely, bored and do not feel good about themselves. If you are experiencing this kind of depression, I suggest you call and invite a friend over. No man is an island, and the most effective way to get rid of depression is to have someone to support you and share your pains with you.
Most of the time, people who are depressed would rather sit or lie in their bed all day long feeling sorry for themselves. If this is the case, gather all your strength to at least get out of your bed and do something that will distract your mind from your current situation. A good exercise will relieve you of stress that may be the cause for your being depressed.
Depression can sometimes be a result of sleep deficiency. People who cannot get enough sleep at night often find themselves always feeling tired and weak. On the contrary, those who get the right amount of sleep that they need for their bodies are always lively and energetic. If you think your depression is a result of lack of sleep, go to your room right now and take a nap.
Chocolate (dark chocolate in particular) is a good source of antioxidants. In fact, it is now considered as the highest-ranking antioxidant-rich food! And for that, we can say that eating a bar of chocolate can cure you of your depression since antioxidants fight off free radicals that damages cells in our body, thus affecting our mood. Aside from chocolate, other anti-depressant food includes fruits, salmon fish and oats.
Thinking negative thoughts is usually the direct cause of depression. Most people get depressed as soon as they begin to ponder on the huge problems that they have in their lives. By blocking these negative thoughts and replacing them with positive ones, you distract yourself from feeling depressed. Wake up each morning thanking your way to a good life and you will see depression going out of the window.
An unusual thing that you can do in order to fight off depression is to visit your mom’s garden. In ancient times, gardens were kept inside the palace for the king to visit whenever he wants to relax. Remember King Nebuchadnezzar II who built the hanging garden for his homesick wife? This is obviously one of the best and natural ways to cure yourself of depression. You should try it out!
