Altering Diet For Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition of rise or fall or levels blood sugar. Many do not know about the two types of diabetes that are prevailing. Type I depends upon insulin and type ii does not depend upon insulin. Diet control is the first step to manage diabetes.
If you have already been treated for Type ii there is no need to get scared of the issue.
When a diet is being devised nutrients need to be preserved and taste is not at all to be considered. A diet on the diabetes chart mainly accounts to three things. They are the type of food, the time of diet and the amount of diet.
Instead of the traditional three heavy meals, change over to eating five or six lighter meals every day. Never miss breakfast and regulate the number of calories you consume on a daily basis. If you had taken a heavy morning meal, compensate for the same by taking a lighter lunch or by indulging in a physical activity.
Consume food slowly and it turns takes in less food. Brain takes 20 minutes to keep track of what has been eaten.
Consume lot of fresh vegetables and take in nutrients from 50% of green and red vegetables, 25% each of proteins and starchy carbohydrates. Take carbohydrates that come from whole grain bread, rice, pasta, and potatoes.
Do not go near saturated and trans-fats (hydrogenated oils).Olive oils, nuts and avocados are healthy forms of fats.
Avoid red meats. Salmon and tuna are good sources of animal fats.
When there is no sufficient insulin blood sugar levels go up. If you like sweets have them occasionally and less. Take healthier food and drink coffee or tea without sugar. Diet altered for diabetes does not avoid sugar completely. Sugar is not the main reason behind diabetes.
Don’t keep unhealthy food in the house. If you do not have it, you will not be tempted into eat it. This is particularly true for packaged and junk foods. Instead keep lots of fruits and vegetables in the house. Some vegetables can be eaten raw and are a healthy substitute for snacks.
