Diabetes And Possible Causes

Diabetes is a disease caused by high levels of sugar in the blood. There are 2 categories of diabetes namely Type 1 and Type 2. The contributory factors for Type 1 diabetes are unknown while there are different cultprits for Type 2. Insulin produced in the pancreas transports glucose from the bloodstream into the muscles, fat and liver cells to serve as fuel for the optimal functioning of the body. Diabetes is caused when our bodies have very little insulin, are resistant to the insulin or in several instances, the two of these causes.

Our genetic makeup acts a key role in the determination whether we get diabetes Type 2 or not. If your family households like your parents, brother or sister are afflicted with diabetes then your chances of also getting it are high. Diet is another major factor. Consuming in excess level of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins will put you at risk of acquiring diabetes.

Obesity, particularly in children, is another major contributor. Doctors encourage you to maintain a good weight whether you are an adult or a child.

Other identified causes of diabetes include exercise deficiency, age factors (those at least 45 years old), emotional stress and smoking. The less active you are, the higher your chances of acquiring diabetes. Spending much of your time in a static position is unhealthy. Research has revealed that those at least 45 years of age are more susceptible to develop this chronic disease. A busy and tight schedule may promote undue tension and stress on you both physically and emotionally, and if not handled well will increase your risk of getting]acquiring diabetes.

Smokers face a greater risk since their bad habit causes a lot of strain on the body making it vulnerable to many ailments to include diabetes Type 2. Some virus types can also be a cause, especially virus types which attack the functionality of the pancreas, such as Coxsackie B.
