You also need to favor foods that are rich in starch such as breads and cereals. There are also a lot of vegetables that are very rich in starch and you can have at least six servings of it per day.
Aside from the vegetables food groups, there are also fruits that you can consume. You can have at least five different kinds of fruits and vegetables a day and one serving from each different kind. Do not also add additional dressing for it. If the veggies and fruits are raw, then it is better. You can also cook them by steaming them a little bit and remember not to add butter, salt or any other seasoning.
You can also eat indulgences and other sweets like cakes but you cannot eat a whole of it. You can have at least a small slice of it. You can even consider eating cakes that are made for diabetics. You have to be moderate in your eating and keep your sugar level low because the calories, fat and sugars you can get can worsen your condition or might even kill you.
You can try having diabetic cookbooks. This way, you will have a lot of ideas to turn your favorite recipes into a healthy but still very delicious one.
