Boost Your Immune System With These Simple Steps

Cold and flu season is here again. Many people are looking for ways to stay well. These tips will help boost immune system.

Sleeping is your body’s time to heal itself. If you don’t get a proper number of hours of sleep each night it can hinder this process. It is recommended that each person get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Getting enough sleep also gives your body more energy to fight illness. On average, most Americans only sleep about 6 hours per night, those extra two hours can make a big difference in weather or not you stay healthy.

Next on the list is eating right. This means more than just getting enough vitamins, which is also important. It means getting enough calories and nutrition to give you the energy to fight off disease. Eating at least three meals a day is recommended. It also means avoiding fast food and junk. Not only will you feel better but you will have more energy and be less likely to get the bug going around the office.

Now that we have covered eating right lets, talk vitamins. Besides the three meals a day you need a few more vitamins to help keep you strong and healthy especially if you want to boost your immune system. A good multi vitamin is a plus. V-8 has tons of nutrition in it and so does the fusion version of it. Basically you want as many vitamins as you can get and I usually take vitamin C two or three times a day. Juices are a good source of vitamin C as well as other vitamins.

Flu and pneumonia shots are available at your doctor’s office. These help build your immunity to certain strains of flu and pneumonia. Not every one can take these though. Personally I don’t take these even though I work in health care. I have seen many cases where you get sick from the shots. I would rather take my chances with the germs.

There are new products out that promise to boost your immune system. I know people who swear by these but I have not actually tried them myself. You could be wasting your money or you could get that little extra something that will help to keep you well during the cold and flu season. I suggest reading the labels and making sure they don’t contain anything you shouldn”t be taking or consulting your doctor.

Proper hand washing is always a good idea and can help to keep you healthy also. It’s a good idea to carry some hand sanitizer with you in case you can’t wash your hands for some reason. You especially want to wash your hand after going to the bath room and before eating. Hand washing and sanitizing is also good when you are in public places and touching doors or any other item that may have been touched by someone carrying germs. I have even seen cashiers go as far as wearing disposable gloves to check people out.

Use these tip to stay healthy no matter what time of the year. A healthy life style is the best way to keep your body healthy.

Taking daily vitamin supplements consistently are effective as preventative cold and flu remedies.
