Living With Alopecia Hair Loss
Alopecia Hair Loss is a condition that affects men and can severely damage their self confidence. It is a general term for hair loss, usually on the head and usually resulting in some degree of baldness. Though some people are bald by choice or have psychological conditions that urge them to pull out their own hair, most people with alopecia do everything they can to preserve their hair.
The most common one is male pattern baldness, which is very common. Due to aging and genetics, the hair follicles weaken and hair falls out or becomes thinner–and does not grow back. There are dozens of medical conditions that can cause this.
Medications can also cause weak hair follicles. Stress is another big contributing factor. You need to know why you have it before it can be cured. Talk to your doctor about what is happening in your life.
Most men take baldness as just another part of getting older. Some men try to fight it by building their hair around the problem in a comb over. If you are balding, combing a few hairs over the problem will not trick anyone. It is better for your own emotional health to just admit that you are going bald and try to find better solutions if it bothers you that much.
One such better solution is buying a toupee. The quality of toupees has gotten much better over recent years. Buying one made of real hair that very closely matches your own is a great way to keep it clean and to trick others. Make sure you can put it on right so it does not blow off in the wind! Another option–a permanent one–is to get hair implants. A doctor can take a live follicle and put it on your head so hair will grow naturally there. It is not cheap, though.
Another common solution is a hair stimulating cream. There are endless hair growth products out there to jump start your follicles. Some work, most do not. If you speak to your doctor, he or she can have some good advice on this subject.
