Severe Recessions Cause Hair Loss
Although most will not automatically associate their hair loss with the recent recession, a small study conducted by a popular men’s magazine has found that there is actually a connection between the two. The recent recession and fears associated with it have actually contributed to the balding of a few men in the study.
Many factors that the recession has on people have been analyzed and one determining factor stands out as the most probable culprit in causing hair loss during recessions. This is stress. The type of stress that has shown to be the most “damaging” is one where there are high levels of anxiety about the future. The recession and the associated uncertainty that it brings makes it one of the best catalysts for stress to occur and its side-effects like hair loss to happen. The problem is that we as humans just don’t deal with stress very well. It is only in this age that we are faced with such mounting levels of stress. Previously in simpler times, stress was really very minimal. It is because of this huge level of stress that our body’s immunities, basic function and even hair starts to degrade or even fail.
Although some people are more susceptible to stress than others, the affects of stress can definitely cause hair loss. The recession affects most people negatively and many workers or business owners who aren’t sure of their future are often subjected to extremely high levels of stress which will then propagate and develop into a hair loss condition. The thing is that hair loss caused by stress does not affect the sexes differently. Both men and women are equally susceptible to it.
The effects of stress are multiplied the longer you are continuously subjected to the stress. The magazine’s research indicated that those people who are subjected to high levels of stress for long periods of time without having actively manage the stress are the worst affected and also showing the greatest signs of hair loss. The thing is stress builds on itself and can in-fact be self multiplying. The only way to stop the side effects of stress building is to get rid of the problem that is causing the stress, thus also removing the stress.
The main problem with the recession is that the problem is so big that no single person can ever hope to solve to the problem to eliminate the stress that it comes with. So instead of looking to solve the problem you have to learn to manage the stress itself. Trying to solve the problem of the recession is simply going to get you more stressed and lose more of you hair. Below we have identified some tried and true techniques that you can use to better manage and control your stress.
One of the classic stress busters around is the simple exercise regime. People who are stressed will find it very hard to clear their minds. The best thing to clear the mind is some moderate to heavy exercise to help you arrange your thoughts better. Some people even try to avoid exercise thinking that it will be a waste of time especially in these complicated times.
Another way is to prepare yourself mentally for any challenges ahead that you might have to face. This includes redundancies or even eventual bankruptcy in the worst case scenario. If you draw up an action plan and find out all the different option that you have at different points in time then your level of stress will reduce substantially. The stress isn’t so much about the current situation that you are in but rather the uncertainties about the future. When you draw up an action plan most of those uncertainties become specified options which are much easier to deal with when the situation actually arrives.
Basically we know that hair loss during the recession is almost guaranteed to be from all the stresses that you are experiencing. You will have to manage the stress properly so you can guide yourself sufficiently through the recession with your hair intact. You should never obsess about the recession and how bad it could be for you, instead you have to be pro-active and make sure you think of ways to keep yourself afloat.
