Do I have An STD?
More than half of people have or will have an STD at some point in their life. STD’s are sexually transmitted diseases and are caused by bacteria or viruses. Many people who get STD’s are often people who do not practice safe sex and/or have multiple sexual partners. One way to avoid ever getting an STD is to practice abstinence. Some other great rules you should follow are: Always use a condom, having an open and honest discussion with your sexual partners about both of your sexual pasts and lastly, get your annually pelvic exams. Some of the most common sexually transmitted diseases are: syphilis, gonorrhea, Chlamydia, genital warts, scabies, herpes and the most serious one, Aids.
Syphilis usually shows up in the form of a sore that comes and goes. It does not usually hurt and is normally in the genital area. It looks like skin is missing, and will typically be round in shape. Rashes on the bottom of your feet or hands can also be another indicator that you have caught this STD. If you do not treat syphilis with penicillin it can prove fatal.
Gonorrhea and Chlamydia are often described as discharge from either the penis or the vagina. Gonorrhea discharge is usually white where as with Chlamydia discharge is usually very clear. Along with the discharge some other symptoms might be frequent urination and a burning sensation when you urinate. Gonorrhea and Chlamydia can both be easily treated by your doctor. If left untreated for a long period of time both of these diseases could affect a woman’s reproductive organs which could lead her not to conceive.
There are different type of genital warts. Some are very visible, while others can not be seen. They usually look like small cysts or look like regular warts. These warts can be removed but once you have contracted this std it will stay with you for life. The virus will stay in your body. Scabies are sometimes mistaken for genital warts, as they look like little genital warts but they differ as they cause other sores on your body. They can also be easily treated by the use of special creams and making sure that you have clean bedding.
Herpes is the most common form of sexually transmitted disease. If you think that you have herpes you can look online for STD Pictures. Herpes usually looks like red raw bumps that will form in your genital area. Unfortunately once you have contracted herpes it is with you for life. There is prescription medication that you can take that will help reduce the length of the outbreak.
Many of the known STD’s can be treated and people can usually go on living their lives without pain or suffering. The ultimate way to avoid these diseases is to not have intercourse at all. If you can not do that, then please get your annual exams and make sure you speak to your sexual partners about their pasts.
